This map presumably was drawn up when Rookery Farm was auctioned in 1914 but I have not yet gone into the details of this.
The position of the fields and meadows on the map are marked in brown.
Therefore any existing brown line lying adjacent to a black or blue line shows a boundary in existence prior to 1914.
Any brown line without an adjacent black or blue line shows a boundary that has changed since 1914.
The numbers are those found on the map. These numbers together with the field names are shown in the table below along with any relevant notes.
The dividing line shown between fields 73 and 499 and 72 and 498 is in fact the parish boundary between Clopton and Otley and I don't know if it was actually hedgerow or fence.
| Key | Field Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 69 | Clopton Field. | Name similar to a name on the Tithe Map of 1838 although it has been extended into part of the "Grove Field" shown on that map. Clopton Field is recorded as arable. |
| 74 | Freshland. | This is composed of the "Square Meadow" and the rest of "Grove Field" from the Tithe map. It seems strange that the name "Freshland" appears closer to the older name of "The Newland Close" of the 1656 Fuller Map. The use is arable. |
| 75 | Cover Close. | This appears to be the same field marked as "Calspe Close" on the Tithe Map. The use is arable. |
| 70 | Long Field. | This appears unchanged in name, size and use (arable) since the Tithe map. |
| 76 | Top Meadow. | This appears to be equivalent to the "Middle Piece" shown on the Tithe map. Use is pasture. |
| 93 | Church Field. | This appears unchanged in name and size since the Tithe map. I need to check on the use but think it will be arable. |
| 89 | Big Church Meadow. | The existing Church Meadow on the Tithe Map has been divided by a hedge between 1838 and 1914 to give this and the Little Church Meadow below. Use is pasture. |
| 90 | Little Church meadow. | See note for 89. Use is pasture. |
| 88 | Back meadow. | Recorded as "Low Meadow" on the Tithe Map. Presumably use is pasture as the name suggests. |
| 87 | Home Meadow. | Again equivalent to the Tithe Map. |
| 91 | The Pightle. | Probably unchanged since the Tithe map. Use is pasture. |
| 85 | Stack Yard. | This was marked as "Orchard" on the other maps and may have contained fruit trees all along although "stack yard" may suggest a use as a hay storage area. |
| 83 | Deer Wood Meadow. | Again equivalent to the Tithe Map although it does refer to it as "Deer Wood pasture". |
| 77 | Little Cutlings. | The name is the same as on the Fuller map (although the Cutlings is written as "Cutlens" on the Tithe Map). There appears to have been a change in axis with the long axis now parallel to the road as opposed to being at right angles. Use is arable. |
| 78 | Great Cutlings. | Similar to note 77 with a change of alignment (however the Tithe Map was very poor in the detail here because of wear and tear). Use is arable. |
