Work Parties

The current season's winter work parties are now complete. We will be surveying the fritillaries and orchids from April 2008. If you are interested in helping out with these then please get e-mail me.

Records
I know that there are many skilled and keen visitors to the site who take their own notes.
The site is managed mainly for plants and most of the emphasis is therefore on the flora. However if you have any records of mammals, insects, birds, etc. and wish to share them I would be most keen to post them onto this site!

Google Maps
I have now put in a link to show a Google map of the location of the reserve.
I am hoping this will make it easier for people to get to the meadow BUT it is also possible to get an interesting satellite view of the reserve as well!
Photos
I also know that there are many skilled amateur and professional photographers who also pay regular visits and whose work will put my efforts to shame!
If you would like to share your photos then do send them along (preferably as jpeg files so there is no chance of the original being lost). Unfortunately I cannot afford to pay for these but I will make every effort to show them off on this site to the best of my ability!

Don't forget - you can download the actual spreadsheets containing all the data from the survey download page

Sponsor a Tree
This sponsorship must be arranged through SWT HQ so if you are interested please contact Kerry Stranix at HQ or telephone 01473 890089 for more information.
Survey Updates
Details of the orchards are now available.
Unfortunately space restictions mean that the fixed point photographs of the Narcissus Van Sion cannot be stored online! If you are interested in viewing these then drop me an e-mail and I will try to arrange a way of getting them to you.

Great News - Great Crested Newts!!!

This year a survey of the Great Crested Newt population in the area discovered the larval forms of these very rare creatures living in the pond in First Church Meadow.
Needless to say plans are afoot to encourage them to stay and breed on the reserve!!

...and so...

The pond was dug out to deepen and enlarge it!
