Species Surveys

SWT Logo

These files include all available records and will be added to as each survey of First Church Meadow is completed.

Most of the species surveys are for First Church Meadow only and we carry out a survey by dividing up the meadow into 5m2 using a series of long lines measured carefully from fixed points along the meadow. As the meadow is almost rectangular we can determine the numbers of flowers over the vast majority of the area of the meadow and show these on a spreadsheet e.g. Excel. Each 5m2 square is represented by one cell on the spreadsheet and there is a separate spreadsheet in each file for every year a survey has been carried out. I have included details of the actual date and recorders plus extra notes in the print out. These details can be seen by using the File/Page Setup/Header/Footer and then choosing the Custom Header or Custom Footer

Click on the link and depending on the O.S. of the computer being used these files will either be able to be saved to your computer or will open in MS Excel. You can then do a "Save" from within Excel if you wish to have your own copy.

Those marked with an '*' also contain macros and you will probably be asked to enable them when you open the file! These are quite safe and allow the worksheets to be displayed in colour - the addcolour macro will prompt for a value to be input and rebuild the sheet in 2 colours - red (values greater than that input) and green (values less than those input) - cells with no numbers in are left uncoloured.
The ClearColour macro resets the sheet to just a numerical display.
NOTE: This macro was developed to help me analyses the figures. It is not a full-production piece of software and may appear a bit "buggy" e.g. if you try to input a figure les than the lowest one shown it appears not to run!

To operate the macros click on the Tools menu and then select Macro and then Macros (alternatively press the ALT and F8 keys together). Then click on the macro item that appears in the sub menu
